SBN Partners with FUEL Roadshow to Help Scottish Businesses Unlock Growth Finance

· Top Story

Access to finance remains one of the defining challenges facing ambitious businesses. For many Scottish SMEs, the difficulty is not a lack of potential, but navigating a complex funding landscape, understanding which options are available and knowing how to present a business in a way that attracts the right support.

That is the challenge the FUEL Roadshow is designed to address, and on Thursday 24 September, the national business-focused initiative will arrive at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, with the Scottish Business Network partnering to help connect Scottish businesses with the expertise and opportunities they need to grow.

Delivered by funding solutions specialists UMi, FUEL is designed to bring business owners face to face with funders, investors and advisers in a practical, accessible format. Rather than functioning as a traditional trade exhibition, the roadshow focuses on direct conversations, tailored guidance and actionable next steps for businesses seeking to launch, scale, overcome cash flow challenges or diversify.

The Edinburgh event is expected to attract more than 250 local business owners, with over 250 appointments scheduled between attendees and pre-matched funders. The aim is to help businesses identify what type of finance is right for them, understand when they may need it and take practical steps towards becoming investor and funding ready.

For Scotland, the opportunity is significant. Small businesses are central to the country's economy, but many continue to face barriers when seeking the finance required to create jobs, invest in innovation and expand into new markets. The FUEL Roadshow brings together the knowledge, relationships and funding pathways that can help businesses move beyond those barriers.

The initiative has received backing from the UK Government's Minister for Small Business, Blair McDougall MP, and the Department for Business and Trade. Its wider partner network includes NatWest, Purbeck Personal Guarantee Insurance, CO4CH, Scottish Enterprise, the CBI and British Business Bank, reflecting the importance of collaboration in improving access to finance across the UK.

For UMi, the focus is on making the funding process less intimidating and more useful for business owners. Too many businesses are held back by complexity, jargon and missed opportunities, even when they have a strong proposition and clear growth ambitions. FUEL seeks to replace that uncertainty with direct access to people who can help businesses understand their options and take the next step.

The Scottish Business Network's involvement reinforces the value of trusted networks in that process. Through its global community of entrepreneurs, executives and commercial specialists, SBN is well placed to help Scottish businesses build relationships, access expertise and identify opportunities beyond their immediate circles.

With this partnership the Scottish Business Network are offering a discount code to users on the SBN Family platform which you can find here.

As Scotland continues to develop its innovation economy and support the next generation of ambitious businesses, initiatives such as FUEL provide a practical bridge between entrepreneurial ambition and the resources needed to realise it.

For business owners, the message is straightforward. The finance landscape may be complex, but the right guidance, relationships and preparation can make it far more accessible.

Members of the SBN Community can use the code SBN20 for £20 off.

The FUEL Roadshow takes place at Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh, on Thursday 24 September. Businesses interested in attending can book tickets or register their interest through fuelroadshow.co.uk.
